Weil McLain SGO Series Oil Fired Steam Boiler

Picture of Weil McLain SGO Series Oil Fired Steam Boiler.

The Weil McLain Gold series oil fired steam boiler is one of the pioneer products of the heating industry. The SGO boiler comes with a tankless water heater.

There are eight different size models in the SGO series, all of them functioning on steam only. The boilers have included large water content for longer steaming periods.

T he Weil McLain SGO series oil fired steam boilers have been rated 85% efficiency and some of the models even higher.

The SGO series boilers come with a convertible flue that can be installed either of top of the boiler or in the back of the boiler.

This means that the boilers are designed with two flue openings in order to make it more flexible during the installation of the venting system. An aluminized cap that is meant to cover the venting that is not in use. In case you decide for the back venting the cap will go on the top of the boiler and if you preferred the top venting the flue cap will be installed in the back-venting opening. You can connect the flue piping to either one of your options with the help of two special L brackets.

The SGO series boilers can easily be maintained and inspected. There is no need to take away all the piping in order to inspect the flueways; you simply need to remove the flue collector hood and you will have full access to the piping. The swing away door also allows easy access to the burner’s combustion chamber. With all this facilities, the inspection does no longer represent a problem.

The boiler’s sections are made from cast iron; they are durable and dependable. All the Weil McLain boilers are known to resist sometimes over 25 years. The SGO series have a great pin design that contributes to its efficiency. The captured seal system starts working when the boiler’s sections dilate from the heating. The elastomer sealant prevents all leaking and gives the boiler more flexibility for the cast iron portions.

All the Weil McLain boilers from the SGO series have insulated steel jackets to prevent heat loss; and all the boilers come with refractory blanket and target wall for all the combustion areas.

Standard features of the Weil McLain SGO series are steam pressure gauge, a siphon, a gauge glass complete with cocks and guard, factory installed 15 PSIG ASME safety valve and boiler sections tested for 15 PSIG steam Pressure. The heating capacity from all eight boilers range from 114,000 to 295,000 Btu’s and the Net IBR Rating ranges from 354,000 to 921,000.
